Job Description

Under the overall guidance of WHO Representative to Sri Lanka and direct supervision of Team Lead, Disease Prevention and Control, and in close coordination with national and international stakeholders, the incumbent will perform below duties:

1. Provide technical coordination support to the implementation of GPACCM and GICC activities in collaboration with MoH, MSD, National Cancer Institute (Apeksha Hospital), UNICEF, and other relevant partners.
2. Support the functioning of the GPACCM and GICC national Working Groups by preparing meeting agendas, documenting minutes, tracking agreed actions, and producing technical and progress reports for submission to the Director General of Health Services.
3. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the GPACCM Country Operational Plan and GICC projects, including tracking progress against agreed deliverables and timelines.
4. Draft, review, and finalize SOPs related to supply chain management and clinical use of childhood cancer medicines under the GPACCM Platform, in consultation with national and international stakeholders.
5. Provide coordination support for trainings of staff, procurement and supply management of medicines, including distribution planning and quality assurance in collaboration with MSD and UNICEF.
6. Facilitate coordination among MoH, MSD, NCI, NMRA, and UNICEF to ensure timely preparation and submission of regulatory approvals, waivers, and clearance documentation for incoming medicines under GPACCM.
7. Support forecasting and quantification of childhood cancer medicines by reviewing data with MSD and NCI, updating records, and sharing validated information with WHO, UNICEF, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
8. Participate in GPACCM and GICC global and country‑level review meetings and prepare technical updates, briefing notes, and presentations as required.
9. Prepare and submit detailed monthly and quarterly progress reports in accordance with the approved workplan and agreed deliverables.

Required Qualifications 

Education:

Essential:

• University degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Public Health, or a related health sciences field.

Desirable:

• Postgraduate training or certification in Public Health, Pharmacy, Supply Chain Management, or a related area.

Experience

Essential:

• At least one year of relevant professional experience in public health, clinical services, pharmaceuticals, or medicines management, obtained through employment, internship, or supervised professional practice.

Desirable:

• Exposure to work in a hospital or public health programme setting.
• Experience supporting projects, coordination activities, or supply chain–related work, including internships or supervised assignments. 

Functional Knowledge Skills: 

• Expert knowledge of English and expert knowledge of a local language (Sinhala or Tamil)
• Ability to collect, organize, and summarize clinical, scientific, or public health information from multiple sources.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and support coordination of parallel workstreams under supervision.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work respectfully and effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government counterparts, development partners, and technical agencies.

Other Skills (e.g. IT):

• Proficiency in standard office software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with online communication tools and basic digital collaboration practices.
